I did that when mounting it on the shell

The factory stamps under the flare near the rear seam are 455 1943

the external fabric lined texture is there

As is often the case with relic helmets, the factory stamps appear when the helmet is stripped back to bare metal. The very faint factory stamp of SE62 could just be seen. SE denotes the maker as being Sachsische Emaillerwerk, Lauter, Germany and 62 as the shell size, 62cm. The lot number also faintly appeared and looked to be 4477. Though this shell was quite rust affected, it is solid
