Exaggerated ovular shape with curved top trim, a total of 22 dowel style spindles secure contents. The bottom is a lighter unfinished wood and may in fact be a type of Japanese maple, as can be seen in the grain. Weighty and very well made; I am including two photos of the mark on the bottom the faded
